HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE DROP-OFF DAY

 

SATURDAY, SEPT. 30, 2017

8:00 AM – NOON

Russell County residents may dispose of their Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) at the Household Hazardous Waste Drop Off Day. The drop off site is at the Noxious Weed Department at 205 S. Front St., Russell, KS on the scheduled days only. Accepted items: paint, stains, varnishes, indoor/outdoor insecticides, weed killer, and drain cleaners. This is for household waste only. No Commercial hazardous waste, medical waste, used motor oil, batteries or mercury. Dry and empty paint cans may be put into your regular trash.

With the warmer weather our road crews are working to repair and improve Russell County’s roadways. Please be patient and considerate for the safety of our road workers.

TIPS TO FOLLOW IN WORK ZONES

  • Follow traffic control (signs, flaggers, cones, etc.)
  • Stay alert and watch for workers
  • Slow down!
  • Expect short delays
  • Allow ample space between vehicles and workers

The Road and Bridge Department maintains 170 miles of asphalt, 246 miles of gravel, and 26 miles of concrete roads within Russell County. The department is also responsible for 204 bridges and 508 small structures.

Road and Bridge Department Resources

The Russell County Road and Bridge Department requires permits for any type of work in the county right -of-ways. Permits may be obtained through this website or by contacting the Road and Bridge office. Utility Permits, Entrance Permits and Policy, and Snow Removal Policy may all be viewed using these links.
